Compliance with the Quebec Construction Code (Chapter I, Building)
At Balcons Verdun, all our aluminum railings are designed to meet the requirements of the Quebec Construction Code – Chapter I, Building, which incorporates the provisions of the 2015 National Building Code of Canada as amended (2022).
- 📏Regulatory guardrail height (article 9.8.8.3):
- ✅ 900 mm (36 in) when the fall height is between 600 mm and 1,800 mm.
- ✅ 1,070 mm (42 in) when the fall height is 1,800 mm or more.
- 🔒 Safe spacing between elements (article 9.8.8.5): No gap shall allow the passage of a spherical object of 100 mm (4 in) or more, to ensure children’s safety.
- 💪 Load resistance (article 9.8.8.2): Guardrails must withstand a uniform horizontal load of 0.75 kN/m or a point load of 1 kN applied at any point.

We offer a 20-year warranty on aluminum, a 5-year warranty on enamel finishes, and a 1-year labour warranty on installations.
According to the building code, a railing must be 900 mm (36 in.) high when the drop is between 600 mm and 1,800 mm, and 1,070 mm (42 in.) high when the drop is 1,800 mm or more.
For supply-only orders, the manufacturing lead time for an aluminum railing is about 2 weeks.
